Mark Harrison Band

Nobody writes songs like MARK HARRISON.

Constantly touring and multi-awards-nominated, Mark Harrison has a reputation for being unlike anyone else out there. Described at BBC Radio 2 as an artist who ‘makes you think afresh’, and by countless audience members and reviewers as ‘uplifting and ‘inspirational’, his highly individual music takes him to some of the top venues and festivals in the UK, attracting acclaim wherever he goes.

Mark writes songs about things most people live and think about but don’t hear songs about, and songs that tell stories they haven’t heard before. Proper songs, with catchy melodies and memorable lyrics that you can hear.

Mark’s live shows are well-known not only for the memorable songs but also for his introductions to them, delivered in a manner often described as ‘wry’ and ‘dry’.

Mark has been frequently heard on BBC Radio 2, including on its Pick of the Week show on a playlist containing many of the world’s top pop artists.

The extraordinary MARK HARRISON BAND has a unique sound and style that is very much their own genre, and incorporates elements of classic roots, rock, folk and blues. They have been compared to classic artists of the golden era such as The Band and Little Feat. It’s music to make you smile, think and move.

The band features the amazing musicianship of CHARLES BENFIELD (double bass/harmonies) and BEN WELBURN (drums/percussion), who form a unique and much-admired rhythm section.

Mark has released eight albums, which have been unanimously acclaimed across a wide range of areas of the music world, receiving a very great deal of airplay and highly enthusiastic reviews in the UK, Europe and the US.

With his outstanding tunes, wry observations, striking rhythms and stunning guitar playing, Mark Harrison is widely considered one of the most original and interesting artists around. You won’t hear anything else quite like him.

As a singer and songwriter, he has co-produced and released 2 EPs and 3 albums. His songs such as ‘Dust’ and ‘I’ll Be Gone’ have been used internationally in both film and television. As a touring artist, Andrew supported Peter Green when he toured the United Kingdom with his splinter group Peter Green and Friends, performing to sold out shows in venues such as Union Chapel, London and the Civic Hall Wolverhampton.

Andrew also supported the rock group Marillion both in the UK and internationally, in Zeebrugge, Holland. Andrew is a regular performer at Glastonbury Festival and has appeared with his band at the festival every year since 2008. Andrews’s brand of new American song writing has drawn comparisons to David Gray, Dave Matthews and Paul

Tim Shez Band - Taking influences from singer songwriters, anthemic stadium bands and cinematic soundscapes, Tim delivers delicate and intimate songs which draw you in and take you along with him. With the solid foundation of Ben's percussive drums, coupled with the rich melodies and orchestral tones of Mikey's fretless bass, Tim delivers disarmingly honest lyrics and melodies over acoustic guitars, strings, and atmospheric vocal layers. The result is a sound which is engaging and often very emotional, lingering with the listener long after the sound has faded."

Gods to Ghosts were formed in 2016. We perform original songs. Our influences include The Beatles, Ramones and everything inbetween.  We have performed at several venues throughout the local area. Our songs are based on personal events and experiences.  We cover several different genres including punk and blues.

The Blues Broadcasting Corporation

4-piece band with guitars, British Bluescasting Corporation

Award-winning band with Top 20 album and international airplay

The band was the brainchild of Bob Cranham, a guitarist/songwriter/producer with almost 50 years’ experience in the music business. Starting out as a duo with fellow guitarist, Ben Keen, it rapidly became the 4-piece band we have today when Barry Cook joined on drums and Dave Williamson on bass. Once the line-up was in place Bob started writing songs for the band quickly followed by Ben & Dave making their contributions to a set list that mixes original material with some of the classic blues “standards” that we all know and love.

The BBC’s debut album, HIGH HORSE, available now on CD and all major digital platforms, reached No. 14 on the Roots Music Report UK Chart and No.21 on the worldwide blues broadcast chart compiled by the IBBA. Two singles followed, Footsteps of the Poor & Right Place Wrong Time. All 12 tracks on the album and both singles have received extensive airplay across the UK, Europe and the USA.

Touki
Nov

Touki

Amadou Diagne has centuries of West African music at his fingertips. Cory Seznec is a musical wanderer and uncertified ethnomusicologist. A chance encounter while busking in Bath planted the seeds of a collaboration that’s been fermenting now for over a decade. Those seedlings are shooting up into the light with a prestigious Arts Council of England grant and the release of their sophomore album, Plastic Man, recorded at the legendary Real World Studios.

Touki means “journey” in Wolof, Diagne’s mother tongue. Plastic Man focuses on climate change, environmental activism and spiritual matters—drawing together West African fables, personal stories and the social, economic and political challenges facing both developing countries and western ones. This is music that asks ecological, spiritual, and political questions.

Born into a griot family of percussionists and praise singers in Dakar, Diagne is not your ordinary griot. Though he draws heavily on Coastal African sounds and rhythms, he has forged his own identity as a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. A self-taught kora player (he was prohibited from studying in Senegal because he did not descend from a lineage of kora players) and guitarist (he developed a signature style to accompany his powerhouse voice), he has developed a unique and intricate style to accompany his powerful, rich, high-pitched voice, drawing on his skills as a percussionist. His music has been featured in Songlines, BBC 3 Late Junction and fRoots.

A French-American in Paris, Seznec’s fingerstyle guitar-playing is syncopated, polyrhythmic, cross-pollinated and idiosyncratic. He also plays banjo and wades in the deep river of American song. Busking misadventures with Malian musicians in the Paris metro led him to Songhai songsters in Timbuktu and ancient omutibo guitarists in Western Kenya. Feverish touring with the world roots trio Groanbox gave him his sea legs. But a three-year stint in Ethiopia is what cracked everything open. These experiences shaped Seznec into an artist who traces the through-line across musical cultures and whose songs let the past reverberate in the present.

As they sail through the crosscurrents our complex world, Touki understands that the

musical voyage itself is the destination.

“A scintillating sequel to Ali Farka Touré & Ry Cooder’s Talking Timbuktu.” —ROLLING STONE

“A subtle and fresh fusion that is further boosted by Seznec’s voice, a dextrous, resonant drawl that brings out the color of his songs.” —SONGLINES
